Alfred works for the Google Cloud Platform, helping financial services firms leverage cloud technology. Event Threat Detection is a built-in service for those using Google Cloud’s Security Command Centre Premium tier. By continually monitoring an organisation or project, it identifies threats within their systems in near-real time. The service is regularly updated with new detectors, meaning it can identify newly emerging threats at cloud scale.
Event Threat Detection works by monitoring the Cloud Logging stream for an organisation or its projects. If the Security Command Centre Premium tier is activated at the organisational level, Event Threat Detection will consume logs for projects as they are created and will also monitor Google Workspace Logs.

Philanthropy
Alfred is a regular supporter of Children Change Colombia. This charity aims to empower and protect children and young people in Colombia in relation to issues including recruitment into armed groups, sexual and gender-based violence, and exclusion from education. Over more than three decades, the organisation has supported more than 70,000 children in overcoming the trauma of displacement, armed conflict, lack of education and poverty. This has been achieved in collaboration with grassroots social organisations in Colombia; Children Change Colombia has raised $15 million to date, funding 68 projects.

As well as English, Alfred speaks French and Spanish fluently. There are lots of benefits to learning a new language, including the fact that it may enhance brain function, boost career prospects, aid cultural understanding and even improve other skills such as creativity and problem solving.
There are some tips that can be used to help with the process of learning a new language. For example, learners could start by learning common vocabulary, take as many opportunities as possible to practice speaking the new language and find a learning style that suits them. The latter could involve using grammar translations and flashcards or deploying immersive techniques. Connecting with a native speaker can be an effective way to quickly improve language skills. As well as helping with pronunciation, this can enhance listening skills and give learners the chance to hear and engage in more ‘natural’ conversation.
